The production of cotton cloth is a complex and delicate process involving multiple steps. The following are the main steps in cotton cloth production:
Picking and pretreatment of cotton
Picking: First, pick mature cotton from the field.
Pretreatment: After picking, the cotton needs to go through processes such as washing, drying and deseeding to become white cotton wool.
Spinning
Combing: Use a combing machine to comb the cotton fibers into a parallel arrangement to make the fibers neater and smoother.
Spinning: The combed cotton fibers are fed into a spinning machine to spin the loose fibers into yarn. During the spinning process, the fibers are continuously twisted to form yarns with a certain strength and thickness.
Weaving
Weaving: Traditional looms interweave warp and weft yarns through foot and manual operation. Modern looms are mostly automated. Guided by the shuttle (or weft insertion device such as jet or water jet), the weft yarn shuttles between the warp yarns. Each shuttle makes the texture of the cloth tighter and forms cotton cloth.
Finishing
Washing: The woven cotton cloth is washed to remove residual impurities and chemicals.
Fixing: The shaping process gives the cotton cloth a smooth appearance.
Ironing: Finally, ironing makes the cotton cloth softer and smoother.
Dyeing and printing (optional)
Dyeing: The cloth can be dyed in various colors.
Printing: Various patterns and designs can be printed on cotton cloth through printing technology.
